It was built between 1503 and 1524 under the supervision of the architect Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and commissioned by Pope Leo X (Giovanni De’ Medici) and afterwards Pope Clement VII (Giulio De’ Medici). The façade of the Papal Mint stands majestic and triumphant, creating a marvellous and scenic backdrop. This building was erected in order to give a visible sign of the political and economical rebirth of the city. The apartment is comprised of a large impressive living room with sofas and is distinguished by an oak panelled coffered ceiling, precious marble doorways, a marvellous marble holy-water basin and a XVII century piano.
