In the centre of the square, in front of the berninian fountain stands the Church of St. Agnes in Agone, built by the architect Rainaldi and Borromini; it represents a magnificent example of Baroque building. Inside the church you can see the Tomb Monument of Pope Innocent X, erected in the church above the main entrance in 1729 and a shrine of Saint Agnes, containing her skull.
